I was lucky enough long ago to get a wire bowl by the design team of two women, Andree Ferris and Reta Shacknove. They are so marginal in the history of post WWII industrial design and it is such a shame. This is probably due to a scant amount of their work that is floating around. The woman I got my bowl from on Ebay had a photocopied article about them and was supposed to send it to me. She never did but here it is:
Some basic searches online include this from design addict: “Andree Ferris and Reta Shacknove were a mid-century female design team who created displays for Lord & Taylor, later designing and producing their successful accessory line. They created a series of wire baskets named their “Structural Modern” line. ”
My bowl pictured below has an initial “R” welded into the unit. I am not sure if they did this to all others.
